Space Photography is Estelar Online’s photo mode. You can take a photo at any moment, in flight, on foot, in a match or in idle mode, and the HUD doesn’t show up in the shot. The server checks what each photo shows (a nearby planet, a star, a sunset, a pirate, another pilot…) and pays for it through challenges, collections and the weekly contest.
Taking a photo
Section titled “Taking a photo”The key is [P] by default (change it in SETTINGS › KEYS):
- Hold [P] until the circle fills: the photo is taken, without the HUD.
- A quick tap opens the PHOTOGRAPHY screen. With the screen open, [P] closes it.
There’s a short interval between two photos. Other pilots in frame appear in the photo with their name, but only those who allow it: on the ALBUM tab, the option “Appear (my name) in other pilots’ photos” is on by default and can be turned off.
The PHOTOGRAPHY screen

Each photo is stored in the browser and uploaded to the cloud, on your profile. The album holds up to 200 photos; the oldest go first.
Editing and restoring
Section titled “Editing and restoring”Click a photo to view it and edit: filter, frame and zoom (center crop, from 1 to 3 times). Editing always starts from the original photo, so you can change it as many times as you like and restore the original later.

Each photo’s ACTIONS button has the rest: view and edit, download, show on your ship, post to the feed, enter the contest and delete.
Ship frames
Section titled “Ship frames”SHOW ON THE SHIP hangs the photo in your ship’s frames, up to 3 photos. Pilots nearby see the frames on the GALLERY tab (FRAMES ON NEARBY SHIPS), and they also appear on the home screen.
Posting to the feed
Section titled “Posting to the feed”POST TO FEED takes the photo, with its caption, to the SOCIAL screen. If you’re in a corporation you can post and tag the corporation, and the photo goes into its album. See Feed and public page.
Challenges
Section titled “Challenges”Each challenge pays once per account, the moment the right photo is taken:

Collections per planet
Section titled “Collections per planet”Each planet has its own collection: portrait (up to 2 radii), panorama (3 to 6 radii), with the star in the background, on the ground, sunset, at night and meteor shower. Planets with moons also ask for a moon in the sky, and those with rings, a photo from inside the rings. Completing the collection earns 300 ¢ and the planet’s card.
Weekly contest
Section titled “Weekly contest”Every week there’s a theme, on rotation (Cosmic landscape, Giants, Twilight, Danger, Group adventure, Night sky, Close to the fire, Feet on the ground). The week ends on Monday at 0:00 UTC.
- Each pilot enters one photo per week, which has to be in the cloud, choosing a category: The unknown, Cosmic landscape, Danger, Space humor, Group adventure or Cosmic symmetry.
- A photo that fits the week’s theme pays 200 ¢ right when it’s entered.
- Each pilot gets one vote per category.
- The most voted photo in each category takes 300 ¢. The most voted overall takes the grand prize: 1000 ¢, an emblem, the golden frame and the gold trail (cosmetics you choose in the album).
Anyone who was offline gets the prize when they log in.
