Workshop

The best equipment in Estelar Online doesn’t drop ready-made: it’s crafted. A blueprint is the recipe for a piece of equipment, with its slot, level and rarity already set. With it, the right materials and the workshop fee, any station can build the item. The materials, in turn, come from mining, from pirates and from the recipes an astronaut makes on foot.

A blueprint shows up in your inventory as “Blueprint: [equipment name]”, in its rarity’s color. It tells you what you’ll get: the type of equipment (a cannon, a helmet, a ring…), the level and the rarity.

Where they come from:

Source Blueprint chance
Pirate commander and boss Always
Elite pirate 35%
Heavy pirate 8%
Regular pirate 4%
Completed matches 10%, at the pilot’s level

Luck (from equipment and sensors) raises these chances and improves the rolled rarity. A pirate’s blueprint has that pirate’s level. See Pirates and spots.

Blueprints are items like any other: you can keep them, sell them to other pilots on the market (Blueprints category) or sell them to the station for a small amount.

Dock at a station and open the MARKET tab. Each blueprint you carry (in your backpack or hold) shows up as a Workshop: [blueprint name] row, with the level, the materials it needs and the fee. With everything in hand, BUILD.

  • Materials come out of the hold first and then the backpack.
  • The workshop fee is paid in credits.
  • The blueprint is used up.
  • The new equipment goes into the hold (or into the backpack, if the hold is full).

The crafted item has the blueprint’s slot, level and rarity; its bonuses are rolled on the spot, just like an item dropped by a pirate. You can’t craft on foot or in flight: only while docked.

Materials depend on the blueprint’s level and rarity. Higher rarities need rare ores:

Material Amount
Metal ingot (2 + level ÷ 5) × rarity multiplier, rounded up
Electronic components (1 + level ÷ 10) × rarity multiplier, rounded up
Raw crystal Rare: 0.5 t · Epic: 1 t · Legendary: 1.5 t
Iridium Epic: 0.5 t · Legendary: 1 t
Workshop fee 40 ¢ × level × rarity multiplier

The multipliers are 1 (common), 1.15 (uncommon), 1.3 (rare), 1.5 (epic) and 1.8 (legendary).

Examples:

Blueprint Ingots Components Rare ore Fee
Common, level 5 3 2 — 200 ¢
Rare, level 10 6 3 0.5 t of raw crystal 520 ¢
Legendary, level 30 15 8 1.5 t of raw crystal and 1 t of iridium 2,160 ¢
Material How to get it
Metal ingot Recipe on foot: 0.4 t of iron becomes 1 ingot
Rod Recipe on foot: 1 ingot becomes 2 rods
Electronic components Pirates (30% chance per kill), surface containers, matches (1 to 3 per match)
Scrap Pirates (about 10 per kill), surface containers
Raw crystal, iridium Asteroid fields; iridium also from surface deposits

Components can’t be crafted: they come from loot. The station only sells them when you repair equipment and are short (see Equipment). Scrap is used for hull repairs; see Damage and repair.

Besides the workshop, an astronaut combines materials on foot, with no workbench: open the recipes with [R] by default (you can change it in SETTINGS › KEYS) on the surface. That’s how iron becomes an ingot and an ingot becomes a rod, a tool or a block.

Recipes use what’s in your backpack: bring the iron over from the hold first.

Crafting is the way to get rare, epic and legendary equipment at a level you choose, instead of waiting on pirate drops. The cost climbs fast with level and rarity, but the result is usually worth far more on the market than the station pays for the materials.
