Stations and kiosks
Space in Estelar Online has two kinds of stops. Stations are where you sell, repair, refuel, buy ships and pick up contracts. Kiosks are platforms scattered across space, one per sector: safe spots from pirates, with a bar inside, where pilots meet on foot.
Stations
Section titled “Stations”Many systems have a station orbiting a planet; some star-only systems have an outpost orbiting the star itself. The Solar System has two, both orbiting Earth: Aurora Station, where every pilot starts, and Sol Arena, the home of matches.
Docking
Section titled “Docking”Lock the station as your target ([T] or [Tab] by default), warp there ([G]) and press [F] near it. Docking:
- saves your respawn point next to the station;
- counts as discovering the station, if you hadn’t scanned it yet (250 ¢);
- opens the station screen, with the tabs below.
[F] or [Esc] undocks. Your credits, hold and hull are shown at the top of the screen.
The tabs
Section titled “The tabs”| Tab | What’s there |
|---|---|
| MARKET | Sell ore, repair the hull, refuel, repair equipment, the workshop (craft with blueprints), refine water ice into fuel and buy missiles. |
| MISSIONS | The available contracts and your active missions, with DELIVER and ABANDON. |
| SHIPYARD | The war license, your fleet, the garages, ships for sale and the Stellar Authority auctions. |
| HONOR | The first landings honor board: the pilots who were first to set foot on the most planets. |
| GALLERY | Pilots’ public photos from the system the station is in. |
| MATCHES | The match modes, to play right from there. |
| ARENA | Only at Sol Arena: the daily leaderboard and the week’s winners. |
MARKET
Section titled “MARKET”- Sell ore: the price per ton rises with distance from the Sun (the frontier pays more) and drops when lots of people sell at the same station. See Ores.
- Repair hull: uses scrap from your hold or backpack, and the station sells whatever is missing. See Damage and repair.
- Refuel: the price per unit is 3 ¢ near the Sun and rises with distance. See Fuel.
- Refine water ice: 1 ton of ice from the hold becomes 8 fuel, with a fee of 5 ¢ per ton.
- Repair equipment and Workshop: see Equipment and Workshop.
- Guided missiles: up to 8 on board, 400 ¢ each.
- Selling items and the museum: while docked, the inventory ([I]) shows SELL on items the station buys, and MUSEUM on artifacts.
MISSIONS
Section titled “MISSIONS”Contracts come in four kinds: survey (scan a body), pirate hunting, ore (deliver tons) and delivery (take something to another station). You can have up to three active missions. Each contract pays credits and 40% of its value in experience when delivered. Active missions show up in the OBJECTIVE panel, on the second page.
SHIPYARD
Section titled “SHIPYARD”New ships, garages and the war license are all here. See Ship classes, Garages and War license.
Kiosks
Section titled “Kiosks”Kiosks are parking platforms, one in every sector of 4 light-years, even in the empty space between stars. In a system, the kiosk sits beyond the outermost planet. In any direction, there’s one every 3 minutes of warp or so. The map ([M] by default), in the KIOSKS tab, shows the nearest ones and the warp time to each.
Safe spot
Section titled “Safe spot”- Within 50 km of a kiosk, no pirate can reach you and PvP doesn’t apply.
- Entering the bar saves your respawn point: if your ship is destroyed later, you come back from there.
To enter, get within 60 km of the platform and press [F]. Right after combat (15 s after the last hit you took), the kiosk won’t open.
The bar
Section titled “The bar”Inside the kiosk you walk on foot, in a room with other pilots.
- Jukebox: [F] on it picks the music, with search on Audius. Each pilot adds one song at a time to the queue, and everyone in the bar listens together. Leaving the bar takes you out of the queue, but the song that’s playing goes on to the end.
- Voice and camera: everyone in the bar can hear and see each other. Camera, microphone and screen sharing are on [C], [V] and [T] by default. See Radio and voice.
- Direct trade: near another astronaut, you can propose a trade of items and credits. See Market.
- Corporation hall: the side door leads to your corporation’s hall, the same one in every kiosk. See Corporations.
- Door: [F] at the door takes you back to the ship.
Entering a bar with another pilot inside is one of the day’s community missions.
Galactic Citizens’ bars
Section titled “Galactic Citizens’ bars”One in every four kiosks has a Galactic Citizens’ bar, run by the Stellar Authority: only citizens get in. The Sun’s kiosk is open to everyone. See Galactic Citizen.
